George Kittle will be playing on Sunday. Kittle confirmed in an interview with KNBR that he will indeed play in Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers on Suday. Kittle missed last week’s (20-17) loss to the Seattle Seahawks
“I will be playing on Sunday,” Kittle said Wednesday, via KNBR. “Very excited, can’t pass up playing the Packers. I will be out there for sure.”
Kittle’s presence is a massive boost for the 49ers as they fight for playoff positioning in a newly competitive NFC West.
George Kittle provides a reliable target for quarterback Brock Purdy, who is also nursing a sore shoulder. Kittle currently has 43 receptions for 560 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Historically, the 49ers are a just 7-12 when Kittle is not on the field. His availability also forces defenses to account for his dynamic skill set, which opens opportunities for other 49er weapons like Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey.
With the 49ers at 5-5, every win is critical to staying in the postseason race.
