Buffalo Bills RB Frank Gore Jr had an impressive finish to the preseason.
Gore got the lions share of the rushing attempts against the Carolina Panthers and he turned some heads, finishing with 101 yards rushing and one touchdown on 18 carries.
Frank Gore Jr is quickly becoming an underdog story in Buffalo. The Bills signed him after he went undrafted in the 2024 NFL draft out of Southern Miss.
“I feel like there’s no way 257 people [were] better than me in this draft,” Gore told reporters. “But now that that process is over, I’m a Bill. I’m here to compete and I’m here to push my teammates and push the running back room and try to get on special teams.”
Frank Gore Jr. is the son of former 49ers running back Frank Gore. Frank Gore Sr. was drafted by the 49ers in the third round out of Miami in 2005.
Gore Sr. spent 10 years with the 49ers, becoming one or the 49ers franchise leader in rushing yards and making five Pro Bowls.
The future Hall of Famer also spent some time with Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets before retiring in 2022 as a 49er.
“Folks slept on my son; they slept on me too–they’ll see,” Frank Gore told NFL Network reporter Josina Anderson “My bloodline is for real. Our (pre-draft) testing was identical. All the scouts were like you can tell that’s my son.”
Gore Jr’s current role on the Bills depth chart moving forward is unclear. The Buffalo Bills have RB Frank Gore Jr along with Ty Johnson, Ray Davis, and Darrynton Evans fighting for backup spots behind James Cook.
If Gore Jr is the next Frank Gore (he looks like it) it would be well worth it for Buffalo to keep around. Then again maybe the 49ers can use him.
