The 2024 Jahan Dotson fantasy outlook has taken an unexpected turn after his recent trade to the Philadelphia Eagles. Yesterday we saw the Eagles send draft picks for Dotson, which has significantly impacted his fantasy football value for the 2024 season.
Jahan Dotson, the former first-round pick of the Washington Commanders, is now expected to slot in as the WR3 behind established stars A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. This positioning is a step down from his role in Washington, where he was considered the WR2 behind Terry McLaurin.
With that in mind, the Jahan Dotson fantasy outlook is a little bleaker now. He will be fighting for target share in an offense that already features AJ Brown, Devonte Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley. It’s safe to say that Dotson won’t be receiving 80 targets like he did last year, which lowers his fantasy value tremendously going into the season.
Hypothetical situations like what Jahan Dotson’s production would be on the Eagles vs Commanders are debatable. Still, it’s hard to believe he won’t be productive in the Eagles offense. It’s not out of the real of possibility that Dotson ends up with 400 yards and 5 touchdowns. This is especially true if he is named their slot receiver. If, and only if, that happens, it’s worth a flier taking him in the last round of the draft. He could serve as a mid-tier WR3 to fill out your depth chart. Otherwise, wait until a good time to sign him as a free agent.
