Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback, is coming off one of his most challenging seasons as an NFL quarterback. Coming off a 2022 MVP season where he led the league with 5,250 passing yards and 41 touchdown passes, Mahomes struggled during the first six weeks of the 2023 season.
It didn’t help that the Chiefs’ receiving corps was among the worst, posting the highest drop rate in the league. As the season progressed, the offense found some rhythm and Mahomes finished the season with 27 touchdowns, and a career-high 14 interceptions.
The Chiefs’ front office, to their credit, has made efforts to bolster their receiving corps for the upcoming season. They drafted the speedy UT WR Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, re-signed JuJu Smith-Schuster, and added veteran deep threat Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown in free agency. The Chiefs hope that these additions will prove to be more reliable in the Chiefs’ explosive passing game.
Mahomes remains the face of the NFL, fresh off his third Super Bowl victory in five years, and the 2024 season looks to be another solid outing for Mahomes. The eight year veteran will have an improved arsenal of receivers and a dominant defense to keep the Chiefs’ in the game. At just 28 years old, Patrick Mahomes is far from finished.
